My daughter just turned 9 years old, and we had a small party with five of her girlfriends at our house this past weekend.  So this crafty mama was super excited when she said she wanted a "Candy" themed party!!  Pinterest was my best friend for the past two weeks! I found so many cool ideas and thought I'd share what I made AND share some fun party photos from her special day!

First, some DIY pics!  So, I found this great Youtube video showing how to make lifesize lollipops, specifically Dum Dums (my FAVORITE type of lollipop by the way!) so to get this look, we needed these materials pictured here:

Materials needed:

1- Styrofoam ball (**next time I will purchase the "smooth" styrofoam balls!  It will eliminate the gesso application and will save a lot of time.**)

Gesso (to make stryofoam surface smoother)

Acrylic paint

Mod Podge (glossy finish)

Mounting tape or Foam tape

Styrofoam glue/Hot glue (optional)

Wooden dowel (not pictured)

All you do is apply mounting tape around the middle of the styrofoam ball.  I had to use a little bit of hot glue to make sure it stayed put.  Next, apply gesso to the entire styrofoam ball to smooth out bumps and let dry.  Paint desired "lollipop" color and let dry.  Lastly, apply 1 or 2 coats of glossy Mod Podge to have that shiny lollipop look.  I then painted a wooden dowel white and inserted it into the bottom of the ball with a little bit of hot glue to secure it.

And Ta-Da!!!!! You've got a huge Dum Dum lollipop!

AND I made smaller ones as well! Aren't they the cutest???

I also found this awesome Candy Button Punch Box party game here that was perfect!   All of the girls had to answer a trivia question first then they got to punch as hard as they could to get a prize!!

Now for the PARTY PICS!!!!...

I love that my daughter lets me go overboard for her special day.  When someone means the world to you, you want to give them the world in return.  The day was so much fun!!! None of the girls wanted to leave and my daughter had a day that she said "she'd never forget!"
