I have so many things to celebrate! Life, Love, Family, the list goes on and on. And what better way to celebrate all of these things, than to roll around on a floor full of confetti?! Recently I visited my mom in NY and while I was there, I took the opportunity to have a mini photoshoot with Jelena Aleksich of the Confetti Project in Brooklyn. It explores the question, "What keeps you going?""the project has evolved into a visual study on human identity and a space for unencumbered expression, shedding light on how vital it is to stop and check in with ourselves, exploring our passions, pleasures, inspirations and motivations."
Things are constantly being thrown at us in life. I know for me, I constantly have to just stop, check in with myself, reassess and keep moving. My younger self would let what people say or think about me whittle me down until I was just crying in a corner. And don't get me wrong, I still want to do that sometimes. But now, what I really celebrate is not letting the actions of others shrink who I am. The ability to keep going, when in the past I would have just given up, is something I celebrate everyday. You don't need special occasions, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. to celebrate. Just BEING HERE, is a good enough reason!!
